IT titans eye trillions in AI, but Bernstein urges vigilance

Investors are increasingly trying to determine who will emerge as the real winners in the race for AI billions. Bernstein believes the prospects are enormous for IT manufacturers but warns that the risk of losing momentum is just as real.

According to the analyst team led by Mark Newman, as AI models become more intelligent, the industry’s jackpot potential only grows. Their estimates put the market for corporate AI functions alone at up to $11.2 trillion. And that is a conservative figure, as training and the consumer sector are not even included. Thus, investors could probably base a whole forex strategy just on AI’s results.

Citing the Anthropic Economic Index, Bernstein's experts note that AI is already capable of handling 30% of intellectual work, which could drive productivity growth of up to 10%. As of early 2025, Bernstein values the corporate AI market at $370 billion, a significant sum for the market, though still requiring strong nerves and experience for Big Tech capital investment.

Bernstein cautions that to juggle such large numbers will require either very rapid model evolution or investor patience stronger than that of the average forex trader during central bank news.

The main contenders in focus are giants like Amazon and Microsoft. Their spending on AI appears to be a perpetual growth investment if the technology lives up to expectations and delivers real returns rather than just headline news.

The analysts reserve a special place for Apple. The company offers maximum advantages, but the stakes are high. A minor misstep could not only drive investors away but also prompt them to lock in gains.

Ultimately, Bernstein’s top picks are Apple (rated “outperform”), Dell (also highly rated), and memory producers such as SanDisk and Seagate, which earn a strong endorsement from the analysts.
