In February 2025, there was a net TIC inflow of $284.7 billion, derived from net foreign acquisitions of long-term securities, short-term U.S. securities, and banking flows. This inflow was comprised of $229.3 billion in net private foreign inflows and $55.4 billion in net official inflows. Foreign entities increased their holdings of long-term U.S. securities, achieving net purchases amounting to $142.7 billion. Of this, private foreign investors contributed significantly with net purchases totaling $166.1 billion, whereas foreign official institutions registered net sales valued at $23.4 billion. Concurrently, U.S. residents augmented their holdings of long-term foreign securities, culminating in net purchases of $30.7 billion.
