Mexico’s retail sales increased 1.8% year on year in July 2026, slowing from a 2.7% rise in June. The expansion was driven primarily by higher sales of healthcare products (8.7%), followed by household appliances, computers, home décor, and second-hand goods (8.4%). Additional support came from hardware, paint and glass (6.6%), stationery, recreational goods and other personal-use items (3.1%), and textiles, accessories, footwear and clothing (2%).

These gains more than offset declines in sales via online channels, printed catalogs, television and similar platforms (-7.7%), which ended a multi-month run of increases, as well as weaker sales of groceries, food, beverages, ice and tobacco (-2.3%), and lower turnover at supermarkets and department stores (-0.6%). On a seasonally adjusted, month-on-month basis, retail sales slipped 0.1% in July, after a 0.2% decrease in June.
