07.08.202613:16:30UTC+00US Used Car Prices Fall in July

The Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index, a closely watched benchmark for wholesale used-vehicle prices in the US, fell 1.4% month-over-month in July 2026. This was the first decline in three months, following a modest 0.1% increase in June. Prices for electric vehicles (EVs) dropped 2.1%, while non-EVs were down 1.1%.

On a year-on-year basis, used-vehicle prices were up 1.3%, marking the smallest annual increase so far this year. The overall gain was driven primarily by EVs, which rose 10.5%, and compact cars, up 4.1%. Prices also edged higher for non-EVs (0.4%) and luxury vehicles (0.8%). In contrast, declines were recorded for pickups (-2.3%), SUVs (-1.7%), and midsize cars (-1.4%).

“Wholesale values continued to normalize through July, extending the trend that began after the spring bounce peaked in March,” said Jonathan Gregory, Senior Director at Cox Automotive. “Gas prices reversed course and moved higher again as July progressed, after a brief easing in June. That has kept demand for used EVs resilient, even as the broader market cools,” he added.
